New ERC Grant for Luiss research

The DynamicInfoAsym project on information transmission in dynamic markets has been launched

Luiss is set to receive new funding for a five-year research project focused on advancing scientific knowledge in the field of information transmission in dynamic markets. The ambitious DynamicInfoAsym project is part of the new European Research Council (ERC) program under Horizon Europe, the European Union’s framework program for research and innovation. The initiative comes at a time when there is growing focus on the challenges posed by the digital economy and the regulation of technology-intensive markets.

DynamicInfoAsym, “Dynamic Markets with Information Asymmetries: Strategic and Non-Strategic Information Transmission,” focuses on analyzing competition in dynamic markets characterized by asymmetric information—situations where one or more economic actors have an informational advantage over others. The project focuses on two distinct but interconnected scenarios: the transmission of information by strategic agents, who act consciously to influence the decisions of others, and the transmission by algorithms, which are now central to market processes.

The European project aims to develop theoretical models and analytical tools to better understand how these mechanisms impact market efficiency and fairness. It also seeks to contribute to the ongoing debate on current issues such as predatory pricing, algorithmic competition, and the regulation of artificial intelligence under the EU AI Act. The project's scientific lead is Doruk Cetemen, an Associate Professor of Economics at Luiss, who previously held an academic position at Royal Holloway, University of London.
