ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR
Obiettivi formativi
Although proficiency in technical skills is essential for success in the workplace, your ability to understand and manage the human side of an enterprise will be what ultimately sets you and others apart. However, recent surveys reveal that companies are struggling to find qualified job candidates with adequate interpersonal skills. This course will provide you with concepts and tools that help you understand and manage human behavior in complex organizations. Specifically, the goals are for students to: 1) embody a values-based and data-driven ethos in their approach to all business situations 2) engage with business issues through the application of experiential knowledge, in addition to the rigorous technical skills acquired in the classroom.
Risultati di apprendimento attesi
Taking a top-down approach, we open the course by putting organizational behavior in the context of strategy. Then, we move to identify and understand specific approaches for achieving high performance by designing and managing the groups and teams within the organization. Finally, we focus on the individual as well as the specific challenges, such as decision-making and negotiation. The knowledge and skills you develop in this course will be critical to you as you plan your career, manage your relationships with colleagues, design and change the groups or the organization you belong to, and work to achieve your goals in complex organizational settings. Ultimately, the knowledge and skills you begin to develop in this course can help you become a more effective contributor in any group or organization that you join.
This course has three primary objectives:
1. Help students become familiar with contemporary theories and research findings that explain behavior in organizations at the individual, group, and organizational levels.
2. Give students experience in applying theories and frameworks in order to diagnose and solve organizational problems in an evidence-based manner.
3. Help students communicate more effectively observations and recommendations about organizational behavior in both oral and written form.
