ILEO is glad to have hosted at the Luiss campus of Via Parenzo the lecture of Professor Jens Schovsbo (CIIR University of Copenhagen) on "The right to repair and to resell patented products in a circular economy" in the context of the joint seminars organized by the Luiss Department of Law and the Innovation Law and Ethics Observatory (ILEO).

Professor Schovsbo argued that there are good and sound arguments for internalizing sustainability concerns into the exhaustion rules across the EU harmonized IP rights. Following this, he argued that owners of patented products normally have a right to repair broken products and that third parties should be allowed to contribute to this.
