Luiss University invites outstanding scholars and professors to express their interest in a full-time position as a Full Professor of Private Law.

Requirements

This call is part of the University’s strategic commitment to attract outstanding scholars from around the world, enhance its international profile, and promote cutting-edge research and education on issues of global importance. The application is open to scholars of all backgrounds and nationalities. The selection will be based solely on academic merit, potential scientific impact, and alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong motivation to engage in the dynamic and stimulating academic environment of Luiss Guido Carli and to contribute to its further development. They must have research experience in Private Law and be committed to pursuing research projects in this field. In addition to the essential traditional topics of private law, they should focus on contractual autonomy, including its most recent and innovative forms, rights in the digital society, new sources of private law, legislative and jurisprudential developments in family and inheritance law, and the private law rules governing corporate crises. They will be able to teach (in person or online) and publish in English (as well as Italian) in international journals.

Role and Responsibilities

Luiss Full Professors are expected to conduct rigorous and innovative research in their fields of interest, publish in top-tier international journals, and provide academic support or leadership in research activities. They are also expected to actively participate in the academic and intellectual life of the University and the Luiss community as a whole, as well as contribute to the development of the University’s curricula.

The teaching load is typically 120 hours per year for bachelor's or master's degree programs, unless special conditions are agreed upon at the time of appointment. Teaching assistantships are available. The appointed individual will also be responsible for supervising master's and bachelor's theses. The position is full-time and offers a competitive salary.

About the Department

The Department of Law promotes and coordinates theoretical and applied research and offers a PhD program in Law and Business. The main research areas include law and innovation, international and European law, criminal law, compliance and cybersecurity, fintech, corptech and regtech, law and sustainable development, and urban law.
