Luiss University invites outstanding scholars and professors to express their interest in a full-time position as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Public Policy.

Requirements

The call is part of the University’s strategic commitment to attract outstanding scholars from around the world, strengthen its international profile, and promote cutting-edge research and education on issues of global importance.
Applications are open to scholars of all backgrounds and nationalities. The selection will be based solely on academic merit, potential scientific impact, and alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan.
Candidates must hold a PhD from a leading university, preferably with teaching experience and a strong record of publications and/or research projects.

Candidates must be emerging scholars with, at a minimum, the potential to establish themselves internationally and a strong publication record in the field of public policy. Additional qualifications include experience in university management and program development, the ability to interact with non-academic stakeholders, and excellent communication skills.

Role and Responsibilities

Luiss Assistant Professors and Associate Professors are expected to conduct rigorous and innovative research in their fields of interest, publish in high-impact international journals, and provide academic support or leadership in research activities.
Active participation in the academic and intellectual life of the University and the Luiss community as a whole is also expected, along with contributions to the development of the University’s study programs.

The position of Assistant Professor is a fixed-term contract of at least three years, with the possibility of renewal or extension following a positive evaluation by the Department. The teaching load is 90 hours per year for bachelor’s or master’s degree programs, unless special conditions are agreed upon at the time of appointment.
For Associate Professors, the teaching load is typically 120 hours per year, unless special conditions are agreed upon at the time of appointment.  Teaching assistantships are available. The appointed individual will also be responsible for supervising master's and bachelor's theses.

The position is full-time and offers a competitive salary.

About the Department

Over the years, the Department of Political Science at Luiss has experienced significant international growth, attracting faculty and students from various countries.
The Department’s faculty develops and leads research agendas within the global academic context, with the aim of formulating new paradigms to understand and address social and political phenomena. Research areas include, but are not limited to: European politics and integration, elections, political parties, public opinion and representative institutions, democracy and democratization, public policy, security and terrorism, media studies, political sociology, gender studies, and political participation. The Department also offers doctoral programs.
