READING AND WRITING ACADEMIC TEXTS
Instructional goals
This course is designed to enhance students' ability to critically analyze, comprehend, and produce academic texts within the field of finance. Through an interdisciplinary approach, students will develop advanced reading and writing skills necessary to engage with complex financial literature and contribute to the ongoing scholarly discourse. The course will cover essential concepts, methodologies, and strategies to effectively read, analyze, and synthesize academic materials, as well as to produce clear, well-structured, and persuasive academic writing.
Intended learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding.
The course will strengthen the theoretical and methodological foundations of academic research in finance. It will offer also practical tools to analyze and interpret data.
Applying knowledge and understanding.
Students will be able to utilize a comprehensive range of relevant primary and secondary sources of information in the subject area of Finance.
Making judgements.
Students are expected to acquire the ability to formulate the research problem, build the conceptual framework and the research hypotheses, analyze and interpret the data.
Communications Skills.
Students will develop their ability in academic reading and writing. Formulate Clear Arguments: Develop and articulate clear and compelling research questions and hypotheses within the context of finance. Structure Academic Writing: Organize academic writing coherently, employing appropriate introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions. Cite and Reference: Apply proper citation methods and create accurate reference lists.
Learning skills.
Students will acquire the knowledge and analysis tools that will allow them to deal with financial problems in a complex and dynamic context. Students will acquire the basic theoretical and practical knowledge to act as independent financial analyst.
