The near-third age: health and well-being of the population over 65

A symposium organized as part of the Symposium Series on Health Proximity by the Bruno Visentini Foundation's Observatory on Health, Well-Being, and Resilience

A symposium organized as part of the Health Proximity Symposium Series by the Bruno Visentini Foundation's Health, Well-Being, and Resilience Observatory.

Reviewing the methodological steps that led to the definition and calculation of the Health Proximity Index included in the Observatory’s latest annual research report, presented to the Senate of the Republic on February 22, the measurement framework for the “Over 65 Health Proximity Index” updates and modifies its database of indicators to focus its information capacity on the “elderly population.”

The Symposium will present the results of the 2023 Index survey and address key issues related to the ongoing demographic transition: an aging population, changing lifestyles, managing chronic conditions, the loss of independence among the elderly, the evolving role of the caregiver, new care delivery models, and tools for interfacing with the healthcare system.
