Social connection or addiction? The psychology of social media use
The workshop examines the psychological and neurological mechanisms behind the compulsive use of social media among college students. It explores how platform design strategies—such as variable rewards, infinite scrolling, and algorithmic logic—affect attention and well-being. Theoretical content from psychology and neuroscience is complemented by interactive exercises. The main topics include behavioral addiction, FOMO, social comparison, and self-regulation strategies.
