1-Hour Talk: the ALL meeting series in webinar format

The Luiss Alumni Association (ALL) keeps moving forward, continuing to offer insights into everyday life by engaging experts from academia, institutions, and the business world. Each week, 1-Hour Talk hosts webinars featuring professors and experts from around the world discussing current issues, with plenty of room for discussion with the Luiss alumni community.

The first meeting, held on Friday, March 20, featured Luiss Professor of Computer Science Giuseppe Italiano, who discussed the importance of data in the time of the coronavirus and how technology can be used to combat the health emergency.

On Monday, March 30, Luiss alumnus Alfonso Celotto, a former Chief of Staff and Legal Advisor to various Ministries, analyzed how bureaucracy performs under stress, such as during the COVID-19 emergency. He proposed reform ideas to make the public sector more efficient and responsive to citizens’ needs.

The meeting on Thursday, April 2, with Luiss alumnus and Chief Global Strategist of Intermonte SIM, Antonio Cesarano, reviewed the actions of central banks and European authorities and their impact on the markets.

On Thursday, April 9, the Director of the Luiss School of Government, Giovanni Orsina , addressed the topic of democratic prospects at a time when individual freedoms are being restricted.

The webinar on Tuesday, April 14, featuring Cosimo Pacciani, a City banker who until November 2019 was the chief risk officer of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), provided an opportunity to examine the evolution of the EU’s intervention tools introduced during various crises.
