Armando Occhicone: in the Forbes 100 Under 30 Law & Policy Ranking

Luiss graduate shares his experience from earning a law degree to working at UniCredit

Luiss graduate Armando Occhicone enrolled in the Single-Cycle Master's Degree Program in Law in 2013, graduating with top honors in 2017, in just 3 years and 10 months. “I chose Luiss because of my experience at the Summer School during my fourth year of high school. At this university, I found the perfect balance between tradition, modernity, and innovation.”

After gaining experience in the Banking and Financial Regulation Department at the BonelliErede Law Firm, Armando now works at UniCredit: “I provide legal support on banking corporate governance matters.” The graduate was recently included in the Forbes 100 Under 30 ranking. “It was a wonderful, unexpected surprise. It's an honor I'm very proud of, but it's also a responsibility, because I feel I have to represent young people in the world of work. I hope to be a source of inspiration and motivation for others,” he says.

When Armando thinks back to his university years, he remembers not just the studying and lectures, but also the vibrant community life with All Around Luiss and organizing cultural and fun events. “I think it's really important to strike the right balance between work and play,” he explains.

He advises today's college students to always follow their passions first and foremost, as they are the key to success both professionally and personally. “Find role models: friends, professors, or professionals. Have the courage to engage with them, asking for their advice and suggestions.” Armando believes mentoring is a crucial tool for the growth of young professionals and graduates, and he serves as a mentor with the non-profit platform Mentors4U

The Luiss alumnus's short-term goal is to lead a team of capable, enterprising individuals, motivating and influencing them through intellectual stimulation and personal attention. “These are colleagues I can pass on my expertise to, and at the same time, learn from, because there's always someone with something to teach, and everyone always has something to learn,” he explains. Looking ahead, Armando aims to become the General Counsel of a financial institution or bank: “This would allow me to combine my passion for law with my interest in economics and finance.”
