With Etihad, Luiss strengthens its presence in the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East

Upskilling and reskilling training programs, as well as internship opportunities in the United Arab Emirates for young graduates. These are the cornerstones of the Memorandum of Understanding between Luiss Guido Carli and Etihad Credit Insurance (ECI), a company specializing in credit insurance for UAE companies’ exports. The agreement will be signed via videoconference tomorrow, Tuesday, May 31, at 10:00 a.m. CET ( 12:00 p.m. Dubai time).

Following introductory remarks by Luiss Rector Andrea Prencipe and Etihad Credit Insurance CEO Massimo Falcioni, the academic partnership will be further explored by Francesca Corrao, Professor of Arabic Language and Culture at Luiss, and Safiya Al Matroushi, HC Director at ECI. This will be followed by closing remarks from Raffaele Marchetti, Luiss Vice-Rector for Internationalization, and ECI CEO Massimo Falcioni.

The one-year agreement aims to provide students at the Guido Carli University with opportunities for curricular internships at Etihad’s headquarters in the United Arab Emirates. But that’s not all: Luiss will provide customized training programs for ECI employees, offering upskilling and reskilling services to update and develop specialized skills, including those related to doing business in Europe and Italy.

ECI experts will also have the opportunity to participate in Luiss Master’s programs, as is already the case with the MISLAM course (Master in Policies and Management in the Middle East and North Africa), as well as in Luiss events on topics of interest such as geopolitical risks, management, leadership, and trade credit insurance.

With this new strategic agreement, Luiss is bolstering its presence in the MENA (Middle East & North Africa) region. Its activities range from recent participation in Expo Dubai 2020 to the Mediterranean Project, carried out in partnership with the Terzo Pilastro Internazionale Foundation and the University of Petra, and extend to Morocco, where the university has a significant collaboration with the Mohamed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat and the Med-Or Foundation.

This strong push for Luiss’s internationalization in the “broader Mediterranean” is part of the university’s global positioning, which already includes 315 agreements with universities in 65 countries and 58 agreements encompassing dual degrees and structured partnerships.
