Integrated training to support exports, sustainability, and infrastructure: the partnership between SACE and Luiss is strengthened

In line with SACE's new operations, the collaboration with the Luiss Business School is expanding through an integrated training program:

ranging from insurance and financial services to support exports, to green investments and infrastructure, including digital infrastructure.

Rome, June 4, 2021 – Driving the growth of Italian companies, building on SACE’s traditional expertise in insurance and finance to support exports and internationalization, and integrating it with new initiatives related to the Green New Deal and infrastructure development. With these goals in mind, the partnership between SACE and Luiss Guido Carli University is strengthened . As part of a broader agreement, the first tangible result will be the launch of the inaugural Executive Program in Export Management in September. This postgraduate program is, in fact, developed by the university’s Business School in collaboration with SACE Academy, SACE ’s academic training hub. It is offered in partnership with some of Italy’s leading universities and is aimed at recent graduates and young professionals, supporting the growth of Italian companies both in Italy and abroad.

The agreement, aimed at promoting initiatives and actions to support companies with a particular focus on SMEs, was signed at Villa Blanc during a meeting between SACE’s CEO Pierfrancesco Latini, the General Director of Luiss Guido Carli University Giovanni Lo Storto , and the Director of Luiss Business School Paolo Boccardelli.

Under the agreement, the partners commit to enhancing joint training initiatives aimed at Italian businesses and young professionals. The goal is to develop technical and specialized skills in insurance and finance related to export and internationalization, the Green New Deal, and infrastructure, by pooling their respective expertise.

The agreement also aims to analyze the needs of companies and facilitate contact between SACE and potential clients interested in the products and services available to them. This is made possible through the involvement of the Open Consulting division of Luiss Business School, which supports companies and institutions with a consulting approach based on the integration of excellence and system-wide cooperation.

Finally, the collaboration’s content will be further enhanced through the organization of communication initiatives, thematic roundtables, meetings, or webinars with companies, trade associations, and local institutions, featuring participation from their respective regional representatives.

Our collaboration with Luiss Guido Carli University and Luiss Business School is expanding in line with SACE’s new mandate,” commented SACE CEO Pierfrancesco Latini. This collaboration has a solid foundation: last year, we successfully launched our joint training initiative, which engaged over 300 Italian companies in the Export Champion Program. The program focused on training related to SACE’s insurance and financial products and services, and is now in its second edition. Therefore, with this agreement, we will strengthen our collaboration to promote the importance of not only exports and internationalization among SMEs, but also the Green New Deal and infrastructure development. We will do this by supporting training on topics where we are actively involved in the market with our products, supporting businesses and the banking system.”

“This partnership underscores the importance of management training at such a delicate time for our business ecosystem. There is a need to rethink business models, production processes, and the international development strategies of Italian companies, leveraging skills that prioritize innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation. Today, entrepreneurs, managers, and professionals are facing a profoundly different international landscape, where the pandemic has accelerated change and reshaped the competitive factors of entire industrial sectors. That's why, today more than ever, it's crucial to train people with broad skills and experience who can create value for Italian companies, thereby contributing to the revitalization and growth of our economy, including on the international stage,” commented Giovanni Lo Storto, General Manager of Luiss Guido Carli.

“In the complex landscape companies are currently operating in,” comments Paolo BoccardelliDirector of Luiss Business School, “this agreement offers great opportunities. Its value lies in the well-balanced mix of skills, combining advanced managerial training with a leading infrastructure for Italian companies looking to strengthen or redefine their development geographies. In addition to acquiring technologies useful for managing long-standing trends—such as digital transformation, a new era of globalization, and the rise of regionalism—this collaboration aims to position growth, human capital development (especially in digital areas), and the redefinition of value chains as significant opportunities for the revitalization of Italian companies.”

SACE is the Italian insurance and finance company dedicated to supporting businesses and the national economy through a wide range of tools and solutions that bolster competitiveness in Italy and globally. For over forty years, SACE has been the go-to partner for Italian companies that export and grow in foreign markets. It also supports the banking system by providing financial guarantees to make it easier for companies to access credit, and its role has been strengthened by the extraordinary measures outlined in the Liquidity Decree. Indeed, recent government measures have expanded SACE’s mandate beyond its traditional support for exports and internationalization. This includes important additions such as backing business investments in the domestic market and providing guarantees for green projects in line with the implementation of Italy’s Green New Deal. This new mandate makes SACE an institution dedicated to fostering the development of the Italian economy. With a portfolio of insured transactions and guaranteed investments totaling 156 billion euros, SACE serves over 26,000 companies, primarily SMEs, supporting their growth in Italy and in approximately 200 foreign markets.
