Italy and France: a strengthened alliance through the Quirinal Treaty
“Italy and France: a strengthened alliance with the Quirinal Treaty”: the Italian-French Dialogues for Europe are back
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM (CET) for the annual event of the fourth edition of the Italian-French Dialogues for Europe, dedicated to “Italy and France: a strengthened alliance with the Quirinal Treaty.” The meeting will take place in Rome at the Aula Magna Mario Arcelli of Luiss Guido Carli (Viale Pola, 12), with the option to participate remotely.
Italy and France have always shared a deep and mutual friendship. On November 26, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi signed the “Treaty between the Italian Republic and the French Republic for Enhanced Bilateral Cooperation,” also known as the “Quirinal Treaty.” This marked the conclusion of a process that began in 2017. The signing took place in the presence of Italian President Sergio Mattarella and the six experts appointed to draft the text. This is a significant moment for cooperation between Italy and France, marking the start of a new era in bilateral relations. It will enable the two countries to tackle the challenges of the coming years together within the framework of the European project.
Following opening remarks by Paola Severino (Vice President, Luiss Guido Carli), Vincenzo Boccia (President, Luiss Guido Carli), and Mathias Vicherat (Director, Sciences Po), speakers will include Michele Crisostomo (President, ENEL), Salvatore Rossi (President, TIM), Veronica De Romanis (Professor, Stanford University in Florence and Luiss Guido Carli), and Teresa Cremisi (President, Adelphi), Brigitte Marin (Director, Ecole Française de Rome), Rosario Ambrosino (CEO, Elior), Andrea Munari (President, BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas), Franco Bassanini (President, Astrid – Quirinal Treaty Expert), Alain Le Roy (former French Ambassador to Italy), Sergio Fabbrini (Director of the Political Science Department, Professor of Politics and International Relations, Luiss Guido Carli), and Marc Lazar (Professor, Sciences Po and Luiss Guido Carli).
The discussion will be enriched by messages from Luigi Di Maio (Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Italian Republic), Jean-Yves Le Drian (Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, French Republic), and Bruno Le Maire (Minister of the Economy, Finance, and Recovery, French Republic), as well as video messages from Roselyne Bachelot (Minister of Culture, French Republic), Dario Franceschini (Minister of Culture, Italian Republic), and Giancarlo Giorgetti (Minister of Economic Development, Italian Republic).
The event will be moderated by Andrea Prencipe (Rector, Luiss Guido Carli) and Maria Latella (journalist, author, and presenter).
Each session will be followed by a dedicated discussion with the participants.
Translation services will be available to and from Italian.
