“Legality and Merit” – The seventh edition of the initiative that promotes dialogue on justice among young people is now underway
The seventh edition of the “Legality and Merit” project is now underway. It was conceived by Professor Paola Severino and is promoted by Luiss Guido Carli University in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Education and Merit, the Ministry of University and Research, the Superior Council of the Judiciary, the National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate, and the National Anti-Corruption Authority.
The goal is to promote the values of legality, the fight against corruption, mutual respect, gender equality, the rejection of violence, and the fight against femicide. This will be achieved through interaction among university students , high school youth, young people from juvenile detention centers, Social Services Offices for Minors, and, for the first time, a Ministerial Community.
The presentation, held on February 28 at 4:00 PM on the Luiss Campus in Via Parenzo and via streaming, was attended by Professor Paola Severino, President of the Luiss School of Law; Fabio Pinelli, Vice President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary; Giovanni Melillo, National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor ; and Giuseppe Busia, President of the National Anti-Corruption Authority. They were joined by Mimma Cavallo and Guido Laganà, Luiss students who shared their experiences as “Ambassadors of Legality” in previous editions of the initiative and who decided to repeat this extraordinary experience this year.
“The ‘Legality and Merit’ project once again brings together institutions and students to discuss justice, fostering an extremely rich dialogue that yields new, fresh, and original ideas. After reaching schools, correctional facilities, and juvenile social service offices, we've now expanded the project to include ministerial reception communities. Our aim is to spread the message of legality and a culture of merit as widely as possible, particularly in places where hardship meets opportunities for re-education in these values through dialogue among young people,” said Professor Paola Severino, President of the Luiss School of Law.
As part of the initiative, Luiss students, coordinated by a team of university tutors and researchers, will organize training sessions and project workshops for their younger peers. At the end, the best ideas will be awarded during the traditional closing ceremony, which will be held at Luiss on June 4th. Over the course of the previous six editions, “Legality and Merit” has reached more than 4,200 young people across Italy.
