The University’s leadership will also be present to discuss the future of education, the digital economy, the gender gap, and industrial policy.

Luiss is coming to Trento with a team of experts, professors, and top managers to contribute to the Festival of Economics. The event is organized by the 24 Ore Group, in collaboration with the Municipality, the University, and the Autonomous Province of Trento, and runs from Thursday, June 2, to Sunday, June 5.

Key figures from the university named after Guido Carli who will take part in the 17th edition of the event include: Luiss President Vincenzo Boccia, Vice President Paola Severino, General Director Giovanni Lo Storto, and Luiss Business School President Luigi Abete.

In detail:

On Saturday, June 4, at 10:15 AM in the Palazzo della Regione Autonoma Trentino-Alto Adige, the President of the Free International University of Social Studies, Vincenzo Boccia, will engage in a discussion with the Minister of University and Research, Maria Cristina Messa. The focus of the meeting, titled “Industry 4.0: A Revolution Becoming the Norm,” moderated by Il Sole 24 Ore journalist Luca Orlando, will be on research and innovation as priorities for economic growth.

On Sunday, June 5, at 9:30 a.m., the day of discussions and debates will begin: Luigi Abete, President of Luiss Business School , will discuss “The digital economy and its impact on the labor market” in the Kessler Lecture Hall of the Department of Sociology, alongside Marco Bentivogli, National Coordinator of Base Italia; Michelangelo Ceresani, HR and Organization Director at Capgemini Italia; Maurizio Landini, Secretary General of CGIL; Marco Magnani from Luiss Guido Carli’s Institute of International Affairs; Mirella Paglierani, President of the Gemos Cooperative; Giorgio Pogliotti, journalist for Il Sole 24 Ore; and Salvatore Poloni, President of CASL, ABI.

Following that, among the must-see events of the Fuori Festival: at 12:00 p.m. at the Itas Forum, Luiss General Director Giovanni Lo Storto will engage in a discussion with Nobel Prize laureate in Economics Daniel McFadden and with Morris Cox, Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. Along with other experts and academics, they will form a panel discussion to envision the world of the future, titled: “Materia Futuro: New Reflections on Tomorrow. The perspectives of academics, popular authors, and Nobel laureates on the world of tomorrow.”

Finally, at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, Vice President Paola Severino will take the stage in the Sala Falconetto of Palazzo Geremia to discuss “Equality and the promotion of female talent.” Joining the Vice President of the University named after Guido Carli to discuss the issue of gender inequality will be Ferruccio de Bortoli, a columnist for Corriere della Sera, and Diana Bracco, President and CEO of the Bracco Group.

Luiss will not only be represented at the event by established professors and experts, but also by its students. With a project focused on the gender gap, they placed among the top ten in the “Visions of the Future” challenge, an initiative aimed at universities and business schools that seeks to gather ideas and solutions on the issues of gender equality and the energy transition.

Among the award winners is a team of students from the university. On Friday, June 3, at 10:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Department of Economics at the University of Trento, they will take the stage with a project addressing the gender gap.

But that's not all. Finally, among other Luiss events, on Saturday the 4th at 5:30 PM at I tas Assicurazione in Piazza delle Donne Lavoratrici, there will be a presentation of the book “Eppur s'innova. Viaggio alla ricerca del modello italiano ” by Luca De Biase, editor-in-chief of Il Sole 24 Ore, and the latest publication in the “ Bellissima ” series, curated by journalist Nicoletta Picchio for Luiss University Press. The essay, which analyzes and explores the world of Made in Italy innovation, will kick off a discussion that will also feature Paolo Barberis, co-founder of the startup studio Nana Bianca; Francesco Cicione, founder and president of Entopan Smart Networks & Strategies; and Marco Trombetti, CEO and co-founder of Translated.
