Luiss and Fondazione Italia Sociale are launching “BeCIVIC: for a new civic culture”

On Wednesday, February 9, Luiss Guido Carli and Fondazione Italia Sociale are launching the course “Be Civic: for a new civic culture.” The goal is to foster strong civic awareness among all students and instill a widespread sense of responsibility as citizens who are part of the university community.

The course, designed in collaboration with the Ethos Observatory at the Luiss Business School, led by Prof. Sebastiano Maffettone, will feature distinguished speakers and faculty throughout the semester. Among them are Giuliano Amato, President of the Constitutional Court; Carlo Ratti, internationally renowned architect and Director of the MIT Senseable City Lab in Boston; and Paolo Benanti, a professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University.

But that's not all: the BeCIVIC Faculty, led by Enzo Manes, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and President of Fondazione Italia Sociale, and Gianluca Salvatori, Secretary General of Fondazione Italia Sociale and Euricse, will also feature Giovanni Orsina, Director of the Luiss School of Government; Paolo Boccardelli, Director of the Luiss Business School; Antonio Calabrò, Head of Institutional Affairs at Pirelli; Beniamino de Liguori, Secretary General of the Adriano Olivetti Foundation; Gregorio Arena, President Emeritus of Labsus, Laboratorio per la sussidiarietà; Giovanna Pancheri, journalist for SkyTG24; and Ettore Iorio, Head of the Legal Department at Scomodo.

The initiative was designed to establish the “fundamentals” of a civic culture that should be shared across all academic programs. It aims to explore its evolution, implications, and manifestations in various disciplines, including history, law, philosophy, political thought, as well as communication, architecture, and economics.

BeCivic: for a new civic culture” is part of the Fondazione Italia Sociale’s activities within the “BeCivic” program. This initiative provides training, information, and cultural activities on key issues of civic engagement, using various channels and languages to reach the Next Generation.
