Luiss and Intesa Sanpaolo are teaming up to drive the integration of AI and human skills in the future of business.
Artificial intelligence is a strategic lever for the growth of Italian companies, but only when it’s integrated with human capital and cross-functional skills.
This is the core of the research “The Augmented AI-Human Job. New scenarios for professions in the AI era,”presented in Rome by Intesa Sanpaolo and Luiss Guido Carli as part of the Look4ward Observatory, in partnership with Accenture and Digit'Ed.
The study, conducted by the “Franco Fontana” Strategic Change Research Center at Luiss, surveyed over 800 Italian companies, CEOs, and HR managers. It revealed strong interest in adopting AI (already implemented in 18.6% of companies), with expected benefits of up to a 29% increase in revenue and a 17% reduction in costs over the next three years.
Intesa Sanpaolo: a “human in the loop” model for responsible innovation
Intesa Sanpaolo remains a key player in Italy's digital transformation, with over 4,500 people involved in the innovation process and more than 150 AI and GenAI applications planned by 2025. The Group's organizational model always places people in a leading role, known as the “human in the loop” approach.
“Research by the Look4ward Observatory, conducted in partnership with the esteemed Luiss Guido Carli University and involving over 800 companies, reveals that artificial intelligence is not only significantly changing how we work, but also how we learn. The new paradigm calls for greater collaboration between people and technology. The use of cross-cutting skills—such as creativity, critical thinking, the ability to interpret contexts, build alliances, and network—becomes essential to keeping people at the heart of these transformations. It's crucial to create virtuous ecosystems involving businesses and institutions, and to design innovative intervention models and educational pathways to prepare the next generation for new global challenges,” commented Elisa Zambito Marsala, Head of Education Ecosystem and Global Value Programs at Intesa Sanpaolo.
Luiss: training people who can navigate change
The University continues its strategic commitment to Artificial Intelligence with concrete initiatives such as:
- the creation of the new Department of AI, Data, and Decision Sciences;
- the AI Literacy program and its digital badge for Graduate School students, certifying the skills they've acquired in digital literacy;
- an innovative guidance tool, powered by AI technologies, designed to deliver a digital, interactive, and personalized experience.
“Artificial intelligence presents a cultural challenge, as well as a technological and organizational one. As a university, we believe that true change comes from the ability to train individuals who can steer innovation and the digital revolution. The partnership with Intesa Sanpaolo confirms our university's strategic role in building an ecosystem of multidisciplinary skills, where technology supports businesses, creativity, responsibility, and sustainable growth—with the individual always at the center,” said Paolo Boccardelli, Rector of Luiss Guido Carli.
