Luiss and Spallanzani join forces: the University’s commitment to social awareness continues

Yesterday morning, Thursday, July 2, Luiss Guido Carli University donated an ambulance for patient transport to the “Lazzaro Spallanzani” National Institute for Infectious Diseases in Rome. The donation was made possible through the “Luiss Cares” fundraiser, which was promoted by the University’s Alumni Association.

For the occasion, the University’s Director General, Giovanni Lo Storto, handed the keys to the new ambulance to Marta Branca, the Director General of Spallanzani, in the presence of a medical team from Spallanzani and Andrea Battista, President of ALL, the Luiss Alumni Association, which spearheaded the initiative.

The “Luiss Cares” project was promoted through the GoFundMe platform to raise funds for the “Lazzaro Spallanzani” National Institute for Infectious Diseases.

With this initiative, Luiss Guido Carli University is making a tangible contribution: providing a new ambulance to transport Spallanzani patients. This was made possible through a fundraiser promoted by the Luiss Alumni Association, which engaged its alumni during the health emergency and reached its goal of €50,000.

With this gesture, Luiss expresses its support for the entire community at the Rome hospital, which is on the front lines in the fight against COVID-19. Through these acts of solidarity, our University believes that the future of today’s and tomorrow’s students will be shaped by actions that demonstrate significant social awareness and practicality—something our country desperately needs during this time,”stated the University’s Director General, Giovanni Lo Storto.

“It’s very important for Spallanzani to confirm its collaboration with Luiss, which began with the alumni’s donation of a multipurpose ambulance and was reinforced with the ‘LuissCares’ projects. These projects aim to promote knowledge and commitment across our country through the skills of young people who represent the future,” added Marta Branca, Spallanzani’s General Director.

The donation of an ambulance is the latest in a series of social solidarity initiatives launched by the university named after Guido Carli.  Luiss and Spallanzani are teaming up again for another important project. The University, in collaboration with Roberto Costantini, a Luiss executive and author of numerous successful crime novels, will support another fundraising campaign with the publication of the famous writer’s latest work,Anche le pulci prendono la tosca (Solferino edition). All royalties will be donated to the Rome hospital’s anti-COVID research, which can also be supported through the purchase of copies of the novel, available in bookstores starting today.
