LUISS CONNECTS OVER 15,000 PEOPLE
Record viewership for the 11th edition of the “Festival of Sustainable Development 2020”
Rome, October 2, 2020 - This morning, Luiss Guido Carli hosted one of the key events of the “Festival of Sustainable Development 2020,” conceived and promoted by ASviS (Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development). The debate “Pact for Youth Employment: A Necessary Challenge” featured key representatives from CGIL, CISL, and UIL, along with Laura Di Raimondo, General Director of Asstel-Confindustria; Enrico Giovannini, Spokesperson for ASviS; Roberto Pessi, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Learning at Luiss; and Luciano Monti, Professor of EU Policies at Luiss and coordinator of the Goal 8 Working Group (Decent Work and Economic Growth) within the ASviS program.
The event, which was streamed by over 15,000 people, aimed to launch a genuine “call to policy” to achieve the goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, leveraging the substantial resources made available by the European Union through the Recovery Fund and the new 2021–2027 programming period.
At the end of the webinar, the speakers expressed a strong willingness to establish a pact on youth employment by creating a discussion forum to develop concrete and effective actions aimed at improving the current situation. Although there has been a slight improvement, the situation in our country remains concerning, especially in the wake of the COVID emergency. In fact, as the OECD pointed out, it was particularly young workers in precarious positions or the self-employed who bore the brunt of the impact.
