Luiss is in London to present its new educational model
The primary goal of the Luiss educational model is to shape a new generation of leaders. It aims to equip students with the tools they need to critically examine a world that is constantly and rapidly changing. This was the focus of the event “Enquire the World: How Luiss University educates future leaders,” held at the Italian Embassy in London on Thursday, November 23, at 6:00 PM.
The initiative aligns with the international development path that has propelled the Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali to the top of the world’s most important rankings. Indeed, the prestigious QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 places Luiss 14th globally and 2nd in the European Union for Political and International Studies, also ranking the university among the top 50 in the fields of Business and Management and Law. This international expansion is also evidenced by agreements with over 311 universities in 65 countries, 78 dual-degree programs or structured partnerships, and more than 3,000 students participating in international exchange experiences.
The event aimed to promote the University named after Guido Carli, its educational model, and its international programs. Over 50% of its courses are taught in English, all guided by the “three I’s”: Internationalization, Interdisciplinarity, and Innovation. As Luiss Rector Andrea Prencipe explained: “Universities play a key role in redefining the paradigms of higher education. Our university is a space for ongoing educational experimentation: interaction with businesses, professionals, and broader civil society, the cross-pollination of diverse disciplinary knowledge, and the intersection of cultures from different countries provide students with the opportunity to develop and refine a mindset that enables them to build sustainable and inclusive futures.”
Following greetings from the Italian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Inigo Lambertini, and from Barbara Beltrame Giacomello, Confindustria’s Vice President for Internationalization and Executive Vice President of ALUISS, the meeting also featured testimonials from Luiss alumni who have excelled in finance, entrepreneurship, and international organizations. They shared their experiences, highlighting the skills and abilities they consider most useful for addressing major global challenges. Speakers included Riccardo Zacconi, co-founder of King and creator of Candy Crush; Alessandra Vellucci, Director of the United Nations News Service; Alessandro Barnaba, Founder of Merlyn Advisor; and Maria Rosaria Caridi, Director and Managing Legal Counsel at the Boston Consulting Group.
