Luiss renews its UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification and approves the new Gender Equality Plan 2025–2028
Luiss reaffirms its commitment to gender equality and inclusion by renewing its UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification, issued by DNV (Det Norske Veritas). This recognition attests to the university’s achievements in valuing people, fostering inclusion, and promoting equal opportunities.
The first non-state university in Italy to achieve this certification
The corporate certification, valid for Luiss, Luiss Business School, and LEME, attests to the effectiveness of the Diversity & Inclusion policies implemented in six strategic areas:
- culture and strategy;
- governance;
- HR processes;
- pay equity;
- women's inclusion in career paths;
- work-life balance and parental protection.
2024 results: growing numbers and concrete actions
The certification is undoubtedly the result of the commitment made over the past three years, as evidenced by the corresponding Gender Reports, and the 2024 results, which show:
- +3% female representation in university bodies and positions, now at 33%;
- +4.8% of courses with a balanced gender composition, now at 42.9%;
- Female Associate Professors now make up 41.2%, doubling the figure from 2020/21;
- a 7% increase (compared to the previous five-year period) in the number of selection committees with a mixed-gender composition for faculty appointments.
In addition to these, there are significant initiatives such as the appointment of a Confidential Advisor, the continuation of internal initiatives aimed at work-life balance (like the Summer Educamp), and the publication of Guidelines for Inclusive Language.
Gender Equality Plan 2025–2028: Actions and Vision for the Future
Luiss has also recently approved the Gender Equality Plan 2025–2028, developed by the “Gender” Pillar of the Integrated Sustainability Plan 2025–2028. Over the next four years, this plan includes a series of actions, such as:
- career development based on performance and soft skills;
- mentoring and training for women in leadership;
- initiatives to combat gender-based violence, including self-defense sessions;
- Courses that integrate STEM disciplines with the social sciences to attract female students;
- services and spaces dedicated to parenting and work-life balance.
Gender equality as a catalyst for sustainable development
In line with an integrated approach to environmental, social, and governance sustainability, gender equality is now part of a long-term strategic model. Therefore, it’s not an isolated action, but rather a structural lever for growth and innovation.
