Luiss returns to the Festivaldeigiovani® in Gaeta

Luiss is coming back to Gaeta. From today until Friday, April 21, the University named after Guido Carli will be a partner of the Festivaldeigiovani®. This initiative, conceived by Noisiamofuturo® and promoted by the Municipality of Gaeta, is dedicated to listening to and fostering dialogue among young people from all over Italy .

The eighth edition is titled “The n-human Revolution,” which seeks a balance between artificial intelligence and emotional intelligence, automation and creativity, and technology and ethics. It explores the reference models, beliefs, and aspirations of the new generations.

The 2023 edition returns fully in person, also reflecting on the experiences during the pandemic that created a profound sense of unease among Generation Z. In fact, according to the latest Svimez data, the dropout rate from school has increased (nearing 16.6% in the South), and there has been a greater disconnect from society and loved ones (with over 500,000 young people aged 15 to 17 self-isolating). This situation has prompted schools and institutions to take action and, during the youth event in the Lazio town, to send out signals of renewed optimism and positivity.

In this context, over the three days of the Festival, Luiss will offer a program packed with initiatives on the most current topics in a world undergoing profound transformation, ranging from legality to personal growth, and from inclusion to artificial intelligence.

The University’s booth within the Village will serve as the focal point for young people interested in learning about Luiss’s educational offerings. This year, Luiss climbed to 14th place globally for Political and International Studies in the QS Ranking by Subject 2023, and it is also in the world’s Top 50 for Business and Law. You can also get information, a warm welcome, and support in choosing a university, ahead of the deadline for registering for the admission test for Bachelor’s and single-cycle Master’s degrees on Wednesday, May 4.

On Wednesday, April 19 April at 11:30 a.m. at the Teatro Ariston, the University’s Vice President, Paola Severino, will share with the hundreds of Millennials attending the Festivaldeigiovani® how the idea for the docufilm “Rebibbia Lockdown” came about and evolved. The film uses the Roman prison as the backdrop for the journey of study and redemption undertaken by some inmate-students, who are guided by four Luiss university students acting as special “professors. ”

Also screened at the Venice Film Festival, this story is part of the “Legality and Merit” project, now in its sixth year. This initiative was launched by Professor Severino, with the guidance of Luiss student ambassadors, to raise awareness among younger generations about the value of legality, respect for the rules, and the fight against corruption among very young people living in challenging environments across our country.

We’re delighted to share our projects at this extraordinary festival. It’s a valuable opportunity to reach young audiences and equip them with the tools to cultivate the values of legality, while strongly emphasizing the importance of believing in the opportunities that come with their talent, personal commitment, and desire to build a better future for themselves and their community,” says Paola Severino.

So, it's not just about legality and the fight against corruption; it's also about social inclusion, diversity, and the awareness needed to choose one's university path. As Luiss General Director Giovanni Lo Storto explains: “Generation Z, also known as 'iGen' or the 'Post-Millennials,' will make up 27% of the global workforce by 2025. For them, inclusion, diversity, and responsibility are no longer just options—they are essential. That's why Luiss continues to support the Festivaldeigiovani ®, a valuable platform for discussion and sharing that connects professionals and educators with young people from all over Italy. Lectures, meetings, and workshops in the eighth edition will all share a single theme: the future.”

With this in mind, on Thursday, April 20, at 11:00 AM, the event “Cercasi Domani” will address the important topic of personal growth and the future. Starting with a passage from Zerocalcare’s “La profezia dell'Armadillo,” it will guide very young participants in reflecting on their future aspirations, with Giulia De Vergori, a researcher in “Learning Sciences and Digital Technologies” at Luiss and the University of Foggia.

On Friday, April 21, at 10:00 a.m., the Festival’s final day, the spotlight will turn to the digital world with the highly anticipated Masterclass “Artificial Intelligence in the Classroom” by Irene Finocchi, a Luiss Professor of Computer Science. Together with Elio Simone La Gioia, a student in the Management and Computer Science program, she will delve into the current challenges of artificial intelligence over two interactive sessions .
