Marcella Panucci is a 2022 Luiss Alumna

The Luiss Executive Committee, comprised of President Vincenzo Boccia, Vice President Paola Severino, ALUISS Executive Vice President Giovanni Brugnoli, Rector Andrea Prencipe, and General Director Giovanni Lo Storto, acting on the proposal of the President of the Luiss Alumni Association (ALL), Andrea Battista, has appointed attorney Marcella Panucci, currently Chief of Staff to the Minister of Public Administration, is a 2022 Luiss Alumna.

The award is given to an alumnus or alumna who has achieved significant milestones, chosen from among the more than 54,000 alumni worldwide. The traditional award ceremony will take place today, Wednesday, September 21, with the university leadership in attendance.

“Receiving this recognition from the University that has seen me grow and has made a significant contribution to my education is a source of joy and pride for me. I remember the first time I walked onto this campus. I was a young first-year student, brimming with enthusiasm and ambition. I'd like to dedicate this award to the students who are starting their journey at Luiss these days. To them, I say: dream, believe in your talents, and have faith in the future. Luiss will be an extraordinary source of opportunity,” said Marcella Panucci.

After graduating with honors in Law in 1994, she began her career at Confindustria the very next year, eventually serving as its General Manager from 2012 to 2020. As she rose to the top of the Industrialists’ Association, representing it in numerous institutional forums both nationally and internationally, Marcella Panucci continued to strengthen her educational background, first at University College London and then with a PhD in Competition Law from the University of Perugia.

In 1998, she worked at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Competition.

From November 2011 to July 2012, she served as Head of the Technical Secretariat and Economic Advisor to Justice Minister Paola Severino in the Monti government. Since 2021, she has been Chief of Staff to the Minister for Public Administration, Renato Brunetta, in the government led by Mario Draghi.

She teaches Industrial Policy in Europe and Law and Public Regulation of the Economy at Luiss Guido Carli University, where she also taught Comparative Corporate Governance from 2014 to 2016 and served as Deputy Director of the Observatory on Intellectual Property, Competition, and Telecommunications. From 2012 to 2020, she served on the Corporate Governance Committee of Borsa Italiana SpA and was a member of the Board of Directors of Il Sole 24 Ore.

She is currently a member of the Reform for Resiliency Commission, a supervisory board member of Human Technopole, a member of the SNA Management Committee, and a member of the Board of Directors of the COTEC Foundation. Over the years, she has published numerous articles and contributions in the field of economic law.

Tenacity, passion, and commitment. These are the main reasons that led the Executive Committee to honor Marcella Panucci this year. She has particularly distinguished herself through her interpersonal and managerial skills in the important roles of responsibility she has held in recent years, both in public and private institutions. Indeed, Marcella has managed to combine her passion for learning, cultivated over time through her academic pursuits, with her enthusiasm for the business world first, and then for public administration,” stated University President Vincenzo Boccia.

ALL President Andrea Battista, congratulating the 2022 Luiss Alumna on behalf of the entire community of graduates, added: “Marcella Panucci has always demonstrated a sense of belonging and a great commitment to Luiss through her actions. We are thus recognizing and honoring a woman who embodies another example of professional excellence at our university. She has demonstrated relevant skills in both the public and private sectors, achieving notable success in the field.”
