A meeting at Luiss on the value of cultural differences
Curiosity, respect, and listening: these are the key words for the event “Migration and the Encounter of Cultures,” sponsored by Luiss as part of the PRO-BEN LAZIO 2 project and dedicated to the theme of migration and the encounter of cultures.
The event will take place on June 4, 2025, at 5:00 PM in the Toti Lecture Hall on the Luiss Campus in Viale Romania.
The initiative stems from the understanding that every encounter with another person offers opportunities for growth but also presents profound challenges, especially when intertwined with migration stories and the need to establish a new balance in an unfamiliar environment.
The first speaker will be Michele Gradoli, Head of the Luiss Tutoring and Welcome Desk, who will share his daily experience of welcoming and supporting students from all over the world. A story woven from intercultural dialogue, challenges, and achievements within an increasingly international university setting.
Next, Professor Lorenzo Tarsitani, Head of the Migrant Outpatient Clinic and Associate Professor of Psychiatry, will take the floor to delve into the psychological and clinical implications of migration with his talk “Migration, the Meeting of Cultures, and Mental Health.”
The event offers the academic community an opportunity to reflect, through a multidisciplinary approach, on intercultural relations and the importance of psychosocial well-being in educational settings.
