Green passes, controlled access, renovated spaces, and more in-person classes. These are the new developments for students at the Free International University of Social Studies, which is preparing to welcome over 3,500 first-year students in Bachelor’s, single-cycle, and Master’s programs to its campuses starting September 6th. This will allow them to fully enjoy the university experience in complete safety.
This year, the university has seen a double-digit increase in applications for Bachelor’s and single-cycle Master’s programs—up 23% and 10%, respectively. In response, it is boosting in-person classes: up to 75% for students enrolled in Bachelor’s programs in the Departments of Economics and Finance, Business and Management, and Political Science, as well as for the single-cycle program in Law. For master's degree students, various activities will require them to be on campus three days out of five. That's not all. Class times will be extended to cover the entire time slot between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., and campus spaces will be redesigned, including shared classrooms that allow students to follow lectures from professors in classrooms connected via streaming.
Starting September 1, as stipulated by the Decree-Law of August 6, 2021, students, faculty, and university staff will need to present their Green Pass to enter the University. Anyone coming from any European Union country will need to present the mandatory certification issued by their respective state. Those from non-EU countries will require full documentation and, where necessary, must arrange for tests and quarantine as per international and Italian regulations.
Safety and certifications are the requirements for students to enter the campus and enjoy all the various activities. It all kicks off with Luiss Freshers’ Weeks, the orientation period for first-year students. From September 6 to 18, new students will participate in training and extracurricular courses, as well as meetings on various topics, to get to know the Luiss world up close.
