Patrizia Micucci is the 2021 Luiss Alumna

The Luiss Executive Committee—comprising President Vincenzo Boccia, Vice President Paola Severino, ALUISS Executive Vice President Giovanni Brugnoli, Rector Andrea Prencipe, and General Director Giovanni Lo Storto—has appointed Patrizia Micucci, Managing Director of NB Aurora and a 2021 Luiss Alumna, based on a proposal from the President of the Luiss Alumni Association, Andrea Battista.

The award, which has been presented since 2015 to a former student who has achieved significant success within the Luiss Alumni Community worldwide—comprising over 48,000 professionals across five continents—will be given today, Tuesday, September 28, at the now traditional Award Ceremony, attended by the University’s leadership.

The Executive Committee has decided to honor Patrizia Micucci this year for the great passion and strong commitment she has consistently demonstrated throughout her professional career, which continues to see her in top leadership roles. Patrizia's journey, which began in the U.S. and continued in Europe—spanning Milan, London, and Paris—is a shining example of talent, vision, creativity, and determination, and serves as a role model for our students. “We are proud to have Patrizia Micucci as part of the Luiss family,” said University President Vincenzo Boccia.

ALL President Andrea Battista, in congratulating the Luiss Alumna of 2021 on behalf of the entire community of graduates, added: “Patrizia Micucci has always shown a strong sense of belonging to her university, contributing her skills and ideas to help develop innovative projects. I’m thinking in particular of LA4G, the university’s investment club where Patrizia serves on the board, which supports startups and young talent from the Luiss community. This recognition also expresses our appreciation for the significant contribution she has made, in the various roles she has progressively held, to the growth of numerous entities within our country's productive system.”

Patrizia Micucci graduated with honors in 1983 from Luiss Guido Carli with a degree in Economics and Business. After serving as Head of the Banking and Finance department at the Luiss School of Management from 1984 to 1988, she earned an MBA from New York University’s L. Stern School of Business in 1989. From the United States, she began her career in the M&A field at major American investment banks. From 1990 to 2007, she was Managing Director at Lehman Brothers, where she had been in charge of the Italian Investment Banking division since 2003. In 2008, she was appointed Senior Advisor for the “European Merchant Banking Fund IV” at Lehman Brothers' London office.

From 2010 to 2016, she worked at Société Générale in Milan, initially as Managing Director, Head of Coverage and Investment Banking Italy, and later as Chief Country Manager. Alongside this role, she was also responsible for managing all Italian business lines: SG Investment Banking, SG Securities Services S.p.A., SG Leasing S.p.A., SG Equipment Finance, ALD Automotive S.p.A. (a car leasing company), and Fiditalia S.p.A. (consumer lending solutions). Since 2017, she has been Managing Director of Neuberger Berman and Senior Partner of NB Aurora, the first permanent capital vehicle listed in Italy on the MIV segment. The aim is to invest in minority stakes in unlisted Italian SMEs to support their growth.

In 2005, the Wall Street Journal named her among the top ten executives in Europe. Patrizia Micucci is a member of the Board of Directors of Sole 24 Ore S.p.A. and of LA4G – Luiss Alumni for Growth, the university’s investment club chaired by Emma Marcegaglia. The club’s members include Luca Maestri, Riccardo Zacconi, Giovanni Lo Storto, Michele Costabile, and Daniele Pelli.

I am deeply honored to receive such an important recognition from my university, which believed in me and supported me throughout my education. I thank the professors who imparted lessons that remain vivid in my memory and who served as role models I can draw inspiration from. I would like to dedicate this award to all the young men and women who are now faced with choosing their life's path, at such a pivotal moment in their personal and professional growth. I hope each of them finds meaning and values to dedicate their time and energy to, a project to strive for, so they can carve out their own place in the future,” said Patrizia Micucci.

In previous years, the award went to:

  • Fabio Panetta, 2019
  • Riccardo Zacconi, 2018
  • Marco Morelli, 2017
  • Luca Maestri, 2016
  • Carlo Messina, 2015
