PRIN MUR funding for Luiss

2023 is a record year for Research Projects of Significant National Interest (PRIN)

For Luiss, 2023 marks a year of research projects with significant national interest (PRIN 2022 edition), with a record 33 projects awarded (including 6 PRIN PNRR projects), totaling over 2.5 million euros in funding.

The PRIN program supports projects that, due to their complexity and nature, require collaboration between research units from universities and research institutions. Funding is allocated across broad disciplinary areas defined by the ERC: Life Sciences (LS), Physical Sciences and Engineering (PE), and Social Sciences and Humanities (SH).

The goal of PRIN funding from the MUR is to promote the national research system, strengthen interactions between universities and research institutions, and encourage Italian participation in initiatives under the European Union’s Framework Program for Research and Innovation.

In line with the MUR's objectives, 33% of the Luiss Faculty submitted a PRIN 2022 and PRIN PNRR application, totaling 47 applications. With support from the Research and Third Mission Office, the overall project award rate stands at 72%. Specifically, the total number of projects awarded is as follows: 12 for the Department of Business and Management, 7 for the Department of Political Science, 4 for the Department of Law, and 10 for the Department of Economics and Finance, which achieved a 100% award rate.
