Professor Severino resigns from the Board of Directors
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Luiss President Vincenzo Boccia acknowledges Professor Paola Severino’s resignation from the University’s Board of Directors and, consequently, from the role of Vice President. The Professor will continue her teaching duties in the Department of Law as Professor Emeritus in the Chair of Criminal Law, as well as her role as President of the School of Law, where she has established the first Master's program in Cybersecurity nationwide in recent years.
Professor Severino has spent her entire university career at Luiss, taking pride in contributing to the growth and reputation of our university both in Italy and abroad with every experience. Recently, through the Legality and Merit project and the Italo-French Dialogues, both of which she conceived, she has helped enrich the public debate on major international issues and raise awareness among institutions about access to higher education for young people from vulnerable areas of the country.
“In a letter to the University’s Board of Directors, I explained in detail the reasons behind this difficult decision,” says Professor Severino. I have therefore chosen to resign from the Board of Directors of Luiss, the university where I have spent my entire academic career. My ties to Luiss remain strong and deep: every experience I’ve had over these many years—from a young assistant to a full professor, from President of the Faculty of Law to Pro-Rector, to Vice-Rector, to Rector, and finally to Vice-President—has been a source of pride for me, a pride I’ve sought to pass on to the many students I’ve welcomed, taught, and seen graduate from Luiss. I will continue teaching. Teaching is the noblest of tasks, as it leaves an imprint on young people, reflecting our culture, our feelings, and our understanding of social and institutional relationships.”
