Registration is now open for the Luiss Master's in Journalism
Registration is now open for the selection process to choose 30 aspiring journalists who will have the opportunity to participate in the new two-year Master's program in “Journalism and Multimedia Communication” at Luiss Guido Carli University.
The program, led by Gianni Riotta, a seasoned journalist and current columnist for La Repubblica, will begin in December 2023. It offers in-depth training in the most advanced techniques of writing, video writing, data visualization, artificial intelligence, data journalism, digital and computational journalism, coding, TV and radio production, live coverage, investigative reporting, interviews, and social media use.
Over the two-year program, students will have the opportunity to complete two curricular internships totaling 4–6 months. These internships will be at the editorial offices of leading national and international publications that have previously hired graduates of the Luiss Master's program. These include: the Financial Times, BBC, NBC, Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, Il Sole 24 Ore, La Stampa, Huffington Post, Il Foglio, Reuters, Mediaset, L'Espresso, Agenzia Ansa, AGI, Associated Press, Domani, La Gazzetta dello Sport, Rai, Mediaset, Sky TG24, Piazzapulita La7, Radio Capital, and many more. Additionally, the Master 's program offers 15 scholarships that fully or partially cover tuition fees.
Enrolled students will also have the opportunity to complete a journalism internship with the Order, which will allow them to take the professional qualification exams required for registration in the professional register. Upon completing their studies and exams, they will also earn a European first-level university master's degree.
During the two-year program, participants will have the opportunity to work on the editorial staff of Zeta Luiss, the Master’s publication. They will also engage in fact-checking activities under the guidance of experts from the Luiss Data Lab research center network and the Italian Digital Media Observatory (IDMO), the Italian hub of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO). This network includes nationally significant entities such as TIM, RAI, Gedi, the University of Rome Tor Vergata, NewsGuard, Pagella Politica, and T6 Ecosystem, all dedicated to combating disinformation.
