Ethics and sustainability take center stage in the new course offered by the Luiss School of Law, in partnership with UniCredit and the Luiss DREAM Research Center.

The Luiss School of Law, in partnership with UniCredit and the Luiss DREAM Research Center – Law and Rules for Europe, Administration, and Markets, today launched a new course to train emerging business professionals specializing in Corporate Social Responsibility.

The course was unveiled during a conference attended by Andrea Prencipe, Rector of Luiss Guido Carli; Maurizio Beretta, Head of Group Institutional and Cultural Affairs at UniCredit; Antonella Mansi, an entrepreneur; Andrea Morniroli, Staff Coordinator of the DD Forum on Inequality and Diversity; Giovanni Schiavone, National President of AGCI; Roberto Speziale, National President of ANFFAS; and Enzo Torino, Head of Third Sector & Financial Education Development at UniCredit.

The advanced training course, titled “Third Sector, Businesses, and Social Benefits,” is led by Gian Domenico Mosco, Professor of Commercial Law at Luiss Guido Carli. It offers a specialized program aimed at managers, practitioners, and consultants in the third sector, as well as professionals in corporate social responsibility within the for-profit sectors.

Designed with a strong multidisciplinary approach and featuring experiential, interactive teaching, the course will be held on weekends. Its goal is to develop professionals from non-profit organizations working in CSR and those in the second sector with a focus on social responsibility, to promote and manage a new model of sustainable economy.

Luiss is increasingly a go-to university for national and international companies, and in this regard, it is aware of its social responsibility in providing educational programs inspired by the values of ethics, transparency, independent judgment, and the recognition and promotion of both individual and team merit,” said Luiss Rector Andrea Prencipe. He added, “Today, we need a new vision of the economy that places sustainability and social responsibility at its core. Academic research—and, more broadly, a university’s activities—must contribute to understanding current issues of great social importance, generating concrete and actionable ideas that can have a real impact on the world.”

We are moving toward a Third Economy that aims to guarantee everyone’s rights and increasingly addresses the challenges faced by all regions of the world,” said Undersecretary Stanislao Di Piazza. He continued, “The 2030 Agenda serves as a manifesto and a guide for an ethical and sustainable economy. Many SMEs have already signed a pact to develop this new model. And Italy will undoubtedly take center stage in this transformation, having historically demonstrated, through its best practices, a commitment to putting people and the community first.” The Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies concluded: “The phase of the market economy that grows with goods replacing the community is gradually giving way to a new phase of the community market. The third economy can become the market for all, both profit and non-profit organizations.”

UniCredit is deeply committed to supporting the third sector and all social and sustainable activities,” stated Maurizio Beretta, Head of Group Institutional and Cultural Affairs at UniCredit. Through our UniCredit Foundation, we engage in research and philanthropic activities, and our Social Impact Banking (SIB) initiative, via Microcredit and Impact Financing, has disbursed loans totaling 170 million euros to over 4,000 beneficiaries. Furthermore, UniCredit issued social bonds totaling 5.7 billion euros across eight transactions and supported European SMEs with over 6.4 billion euros in loans during the COVID-19 emergency in the first half of 2020. We are therefore deeply committed to this new Luiss initiative, especially because, as a bank, our motto is: to do well, we have to do good. To do well, you have to do good.”
