Two new departments have been established within the legal faculty at Luiss
As of February 1, 2026, two new departments will be operational at Luiss Guido Carli: the Department of Business and Economic Law and the Department of Law and Institutions, which were created through the reorganization of the university’s legal department.
This new structure marks a significant step forward in strengthening the academic model, with the aim of making the institution increasingly specialized, agile, and capable of interpreting the complexity of today’s economic, institutional, and social contexts.
The Department of Business Law and Economics, headed by Professor Barbara De Donno, focuses on the study of the relationships between law, people, organizational models, and business activities. It places particular emphasis on the transformations of markets, companies, and regulatory models within a national, European Union, and global context.
The Department of Law and Institutions, headed by Professor Antonio Punzi, instead focuses on the study of public institutions, decision-making processes, and mechanisms for guaranteeing rights at the national, European, and international levels. It addresses the challenges posed by the social, technological, and democratic transformations of our time.
“With the launch of these two new Departments, we are taking another step forward in the University’s evolution,” commented Rector Paolo Boccardelli. “This decision strengthens our disciplinary identities and allows us to focus more precisely on key research areas. This enables us to understand the profound changes affecting businesses, institutions, and contemporary democracies, while maintaining an integrated and coherent vision of the University’s role in society.”
The launch of these two Departments confirms the University’s commitment to an organizational structure that leverages expertise, fosters dialogue between fields of knowledge, and makes a tangible impact in economic and institutional contexts, in line with the development trajectories outlined in the Strategic Plan.
