This year, Luiss is once again participating in the “University Corridors” project, an initiative by the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) that provides young refugees with scholarships to study at Italian universities.

The University was among the first to join the initiative. Thanks to the Luiss Alumni Association, it enabled a young student of Eritrean origin with refugee status in Ethiopia, Bereket Gebremichael Kidanemariam, to pursue a master’s degree program, which he is still currently enrolled in.

Bereket is the first student in a “university corridor” and is currently performing well in his exams, with a good grade point average.

The project, which this year also involves other universities (University of L'Aquila, University of Bologna, University of Cagliari, University of Florence, State University of Milan, University of Padua, University of Perugia, University of Pisa, University of Sassari, and Iuav University of Venice), as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Caritas Italiana, Diaconia Valdese, and Gandhi Charity, will also enable another student to pursue a master's degree program at Luiss starting in September.

The selection process is currently underway in Ethiopia.
