Housing in Utrecht

Interested students should be aware that finding suitable and affordable housing in Utrecht is very difficult, as Utrecht is one of the most popular cities in the Netherlands. Dutch universities generally don't own any student housing, so finding accommodation is your own responsibility. However, Utrecht University provides detailed information on housing and hosts live webinars in December, April, and June that specifically focus on finding housing. In July and August, two dedicated Housing Support Officers are appointed to provide assistance and advice. Furthermore, international students can take part in a Reserved Accommodation Program (you need an approved registration before you can book, and participation is not guaranteed: mark the deadlines in your calendar if you are interested). Selected students are advised to start their housing search as soon as possible and to secure accommodations before the start of the academic year. Keep in mind that you may need to travel to Utrecht before the program starts to secure housing.
