Programme features  

The Double Degree with the University of Mannheim is a programme aimed at students who intend to enrol in the Master's Degree in Management or the Master's Degree in Strategic Management (only for courses taught in English). 

Programme structure  

The Programme is structured as follows: 

  • The first year takes place at the University of Mannheim (Mannheim, Germany); 
  • the second year takes place at Luiss (Rome, Italy).

Who can apply  

The call for applications for the 2027–2028 mobility year is open to the following categories of students. 

Students enrolled in the first year of the Master's Degree in Strategic Management at Luiss 

Eligible majors: 

  • Strategic Management & Consulting 
  • Technology Strategy 
  • Sustainability & the Circular Economy 

Students enrolled in the first year of the Master's Degree in Management at Luiss 

Accepted majors: 

  • International Management 
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation 
  • Luxury, Fashion, and Made in Italy 

Fees and contributions

Luiss students will pay tuition fees exclusively to Luiss and will therefore be exempt from paying tuition fees at the University of Mannheim. 

Qualifications awarded  

Upon completing the Programme, students will earn a Master in Management (M.Sc.) from the University of Mannheim and either a Master's Degree in Strategic Management or a Master's Degree in Management from Luiss.

Key Academic Rules

  • Interested students must read and understand the study plan and its rules. As a general rule, it is not possible to make changes to the curriculum
  • The exams listed in the study plan must be taken and passed before the start of the mobility year. 
  • During the mobility period, students will be subject to the regulations of the University of Mannheim

Information about the thesis  

The two universities will provide detailed information on procedures and related deadlines throughout the Programme. For reference: 

  • Students will work on their dissertations during the second year of the programme at Luiss, under the supervision of a Luiss supervisor. 
  • Students are required to comply with the procedures and deadlines set by Luiss regarding thesis submission, the quality of their work, checks for originality, and any other stipulated requirements. 
  • The thesis defence will take place orally at Luiss during one of the available graduation sessions: the summer session (June/July), the autumn session (October/November), or the extraordinary session (March/April). 

Additional information 

  • Students selected for a Double Degree Programme are required to follow the study plan for their year of mobility, including any changes, particularly those concerning language courses and other academic activities. 
  • While committing to providing complete, accurate, and timely information, Luiss reserves the right to modify, update, or revoke the Programme at any time. 
  • Luiss is not responsible for any cancellations or changes to the Programme due to circumstances beyond its control. Should this occur, all affected students will be promptly informed.

Admission Criteria  

Requirements for applications for the 2026/2027 mobility year
Hold a bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Management, Finance, or Marketing. 
Have earned at least 136 ECTS by the deadline specified in the Selection Notice. 
Have a weighted average of 27.50/30 or higher by the deadline specified in the Call for Applications. 

Demonstrate a C1 level of English proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), certified by one of the following qualifications:  

  • TOEFL iBT: minimum score 91/120 
  • IELTS: minimum score of 7.0 
  • Cambridge English Qualifications (CPE, CAE, or FCE) with a minimum grade of A 
  • Duolingo English Test: minimum score of 130 
  • Certificate issued by the Trinity School Language Academy in Rome 
  • Certificate issued by the Luiss Language Centre 
  • An international secondary school diploma where instruction was provided entirely in English 
  • A bachelor's degree taught entirely in English. 
Have completed at least 6 months of work placement experience in a company setting by July 2027. A certificate issued by the company will be required. 
Achieve a B2 level in French by July 2027. Any language certificate is accepted, provided it was issued within the two years prior to departure (i.e., not before 1 September 2025). 

Notes on selection and admission 

All applicants for the Double Degree Programme are required to follow the selection procedures and instructions provided on the Graduate Admissions website. Please check carefully the requirements that apply to your category of candidate (for example, international student, graduate, or Luiss student). If you are admitted, you will need to follow the enrolment procedures and meet the relevant deadlines for the Programme. 

Please note that the admission process for the Luiss Master's Degree and the selection for the Double Degree are two separate and independent processes. Admission to the Master's Degree does not automatically mean selection for the Double Degree Programme. If a candidate is not selected for the Double Degree programme, they will remain duly enrolled on the Luiss Master's Degree programme to which they have been admitted. 

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be ranked based on their academic merit score, which is calculated according to the criteria outlined in the table below.

International experience10% Assessed in the following cases: university mobility abroad (in person or virtually) lasting at least one semester; completion of a bachelor's degree in a country other than the applicant's country of origin; an internship undertaken abroad lasting a minimum of 150 hours (with certification).
