LLM Educational Program in partnership with Durham University
Highlights
The program provides a solid, international foundation in the field of International Law, offering students the chance to choose one of the following specializations:
- International Trade and Commercial Law
- Corporate Law
- International Law and Governance
- European Trade and Commercial Law
The program is designed for ambitious and motivated students who want to learn in an exciting environment with world-class faculty.
The program requires tuition payment. In addition to tuition fees at Luiss, selected students will pay tuition to Durham University. Luiss students will benefit from a 20% discount, so for the 2026–27 academic year, they will be required to pay a fee of around £25,000.
Please note that tuition does not cover living expenses. Students must also cover the cost of housing and meals. Interested students can apply for college housing.

Application Process
The Call for Applications will be published in early December 2025, and students will be able to apply starting January 8 , 2026. Further information on the deadlines is provided in the table below. Details regarding the application process not available on this web page will be provided in the 2026/27 Call for Applications, which will be uploaded to the 'Useful documents' section at the bottom of this page.
Who can apply
Students enrolled in the fourth year of the single-cycle Master's degree program can apply for this program. Depending on their major, students can apply for:
• LL.M. in International Trade and Commercial Law, open to students majoring in International Law, European Law, Law and Innovation, Corporate and Tax Law, or Business Law and Economics
• LL.M. in International Law and Governance, open to students majoring in International Law
• LL.M. in European Trade and Commercial Law, open to students majoring in International Law, European Law, Corporate and Tax Law, Business Law and Economics, or Administrative Law
• LL.M. in Corporate Law, open to students majoring in European Law, Corporate and Tax Law, Business Law and Economics, or Civil Law
Application Process

Each year, a total of 10 students can participate in the program.
Requirements
Candidates for this program must meet the following requirements:
- IELTS: minimum overall score of 7.0, with no component below 6.5 and a minimum score of 7.0 in writing.
- TOEFL iBT and TOEFL iBT Home Edition: 90, with no component scoring below 20
- Cambridge CPE: minimum overall score of 185, with a minimum of 176 in each component and a minimum of 185 in writing.
- Cambridge CAE: minimum overall score of 185, with a minimum of 176 in each component and a minimum of 185 in writing.
- Pearson Academic PTE: minimum score of 68, with no less than 62 in each Communicative Skill and a minimum score of 68 in writing.
- Duolingo English Language Test (DET): 130 overall, with 130 in writing and no less than 120 in any other individual subscore.
Language certificates must not be older than two years from the start of the mobility program (August/September 2026). Applicants must meet the requirements with a single test.
Selection Procedure
Luiss University will select a shortlist of candidates based on a non-disputable evaluation of the student's academic profile and motivation. Further details about the selection process will be published along with the call.
The results will be communicated to Durham University, which reserves the right to make the final selection.
Selection Criteria
The selection process involves three steps:
| Step 1 | Eligible candidates will be ranked based on an analysis of their academic performance (credits: 53%; internship credits: 2%; weighted average grade: 45%). |
| Step 2 | An interview will focus on the candidate's motivation, academic background, and previous international or professional experiences. |
| Step 3 | The partner universities, after analyzing the Luiss Commission ranking and the candidates’ applications, have the right to confirm the final ranking. |
