The GOEL Cooperative Group is a community of individuals, businesses, and social cooperatives dedicated to bringing about change and revitalization in Calabria. It was established in 2003 as part of an initiative in the Locride region. GOEL was founded to bring about real change: it works to integrate disadvantaged individuals into society and the workforce, and provides jobs for the unemployed. It actively opposes the 'Ndrangheta, not only by denouncing its presence and activities, but by demonstrating that ethics is not a rearguard choice for “noble souls,” but can represent an effective and high-quality response.

The member organizations of Consorzio Sociale GOEL where you can volunteer are:

CONSORZIO SOCIALE GOEL
Volunteers will work in the field of Responsible Tourism. The project in question is “Ostello Locride,” a youth hostel confiscated from the 'Ndrangheta and now managed by GOEL.
Number of volunteers needed: 1

The volunteer will be asked to take concrete actions to benefit and support the association: students will apply their skills and competencies in real-world settings, internalizing important values such as justice, legality, equality, respect, and care for the environment.

ARCA DELLA SALVEZZA
The Arca cooperative was established in March 2009 as an “offshoot” of the Centro Assistenza E Formazione Cristiana Emmaus, which has been operating in the Locride area since 1981.
Arca della Salvezza is established as a mixed-type social cooperative, both A and B, to meet a dual objective: to support the Emmaus Center in providing social welfare services in the area and to manage the Center’s farm, employing disadvantaged individuals for farm work.

Volunteers will work in administration, managing a group home for minors.
 Number of volunteers needed: 1
