On Saturday, May 6, 2017, LUISS will participate in the Open House Roma event, offering the public an open visit to its Viale Pola and Via Parenzo campuses.

The annual weekend event (May 6th and 7th) offers free access to hundreds of notable buildings in the capital. This year, a group of LUISS students, specially trained by the Open House staff, will guide visitors through the spaces and provide information on the historical, artistic, and architectural features of the venues.

“LUISS's participation in Open House Roma 2017 is part of a long-term project to enhance our campuses in collaboration with the University's Cultural Activities department. In the future, this initiative plans to open not only Pola and Parenzo to the public, but also Viale Romania and Villa Blanc,” says Fosco Riani, a Master's student in International Relations who is involved in the project. “Students who complete the training become custodians and ambassadors of the University's history and its locations, with the goal of sharing them with anyone who wants to learn more about Rome through its architecture and urban development.”

“It's a project that lets us learn to appreciate our campuses not only as places of learning, but also for their significant historical and cultural value,” adds Chiara Fratalia, a first-year student in the Master's program in Government and Policy. According to Bernadette Amante, a first-year law student: “Taking part in this project lets me learn about the history of the buildings I visit every day. I discovered a new perspective, a new world filled with characters, symbols, and mysteries. Now, as I walk through the corridors of each campus, no detail goes unnoticed; everything carries its own meaning and tells me its story!”

Both campuses will be open for tours on Saturday, May 6, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The historic campus on Viale Pola offers a guided tour for 10 people every hour (route: fountain – garden – building exterior – building interior: monumental staircase and council chamber), while the Department of Law's campus on Via Parenzo allows for a tour of 15 people every hour (route: Sala Verde – faculty lounge – Nocco classroom – chapel – terrace – spiral staircase – floor S).
