I'm a prospective Luiss student. What financial aid is available to me?
Each year, the University uses its own funds to provide financial aid (partial or full exemptions), which is generally awarded through a competitive process. The calls for applications and the corresponding online application forms are posted on the following page.
I graduated from high school with a perfect score and honors. Am I eligible for a reduction in the annual Single Contribution?
Luiss does not offer financial aid based on high school diploma grades.
I’m waiting to find out the results of the Luiss admissions test. Is it possible to apply for the scholarships that have been announced?
If the announcement allows it, you can apply even if the admission results haven’t been released yet. If you are not admitted, we will remove your application from the competition.
Can I apply for two different scholarships?
If you meet the eligibility requirements for multiple competitions, you can submit applications for each. However, if you win multiple competitions, you will need to choose only one scholarship.
What is the process for applying to a scholarship competition?
If you're applying for a scholarship for the first time, click on “Application Form,” then on “Log In” to register. After registering, you'll need to log in, fill out the application, and submit it.
I’m interested in a scholarship application process. Do I need to meet the requirements by the call's deadline?
Unless specifically stated otherwise, you must meet all the requirements outlined in the competition notices by the application submission deadline.
The call for applications requires an ISEE certificate. Can I submit a DSU on a temporary basis?
Luiss does not accept expired DSUs or ISEEs. While you await the results of the Admission Test, we recommend requesting the ISEE certificate that applies to benefits for the right to university study from a CAF or your accountant.

Luiss offers full or partial reductions on the annual Single Contribution for:
- students who have been awarded a scholarship by the University;
- students who have a sibling enrolled at Luiss;
- students who fall into the eligible categories, as stipulated by current legislation (students with a certified disability percentage of 66% or higher, or children of recipients of a work disability pension);
- unmarried students with children under the age of 6.

I have been granted a FULL exemption from the Single Contribution. What is the procedure to follow?
While awaiting the outcome of your scholarship application, you must pay the first installment of the Single Contribution by the deadlines set by the University. This will be refunded by crediting the student's checking account or prepaid card. The second and third installment payments will be automatically canceled.
I have been granted a PARTIAL exemption from the Single Contribution. How should I handle the payments?
The competition announcement specifies the installments for which the partial exemption will apply. Typically, the partial exemption applies to the second and third installments, which are recalculated based on the scholarship amount. Therefore, the first installment must be paid by the deadline set by Luiss.
Do I need to submit a specific request to confirm my scholarship for the following year?
The process for confirming your scholarship for the following year in the same degree program is outlined in the competition announcement. Generally, and with some exceptions, in July, the offices review the merit of all students without the need for specific requests.
What are the requirements for confirmation?
The requirements are outlined in the competition announcement. If the announcement requires passing a certain percentage of credit hours (for example, 70%), all exams from previous years must be considered, not just those from the last year. The weighted average is shown in the self-service web portal.
Are there scholarships available for currently enrolled students who demonstrate strong academic performance?
Yes, for the 2025/2026 academic year, Luiss has planned to grant 50 exemptions from the second installment payment to particularly deserving students. Additionally, to encourage international mobility, the University provides grants to final-year master’s students to partially cover the costs of preparing their thesis abroad. The announcements and corresponding application forms are posted on the scholarships page of the website.
Are there any financial benefits for students enrolled in a Luiss Master's program who are interested in enrolling in a Master's degree program?
As approved by the Luiss Academic Senate, students enrolled in a Level I Master’s program—who are directly admitted to a Master’s Degree program—can receive a 50% exemption from the Single Contribution fee for enrollment in the second year of the program. This is contingent upon them earning all required credits in the curriculum by the end of the first-year summer exam session, with a grade point average of 28/30 or higher. The calculation also includes credits from exams taken during the Master's program that are recognized for the Master's degree.
If I need information about my scholarship or am struggling with exams and risk not meeting the merit requirement to confirm my scholarship, who can I contact?

The ranking is based on merit (CFU credits and weighted average), and in the event of a tie, the student with the lowest ISEE takes precedence.
If I have a scholarship, can I still apply for a part-time position?
Yes, receiving a scholarship doesn’t prevent you from potentially being assigned paid part-time work.
What happens if I decide to withdraw from the part-time position during the year?

This model reflects Luiss’s commitment to developing independent, responsible leaders who can drive change, providing them with practical tools to tackle global challenges, create societal impact, and shape the future.
Through ongoing interaction with international faculty, researchers, and professionals, learning evolves in a dynamic, flexible, and discussion-based manner, valuing diverse perspectives and real-world experience.
For more information and details, please visit the dedicated web page at https://www.luiss.it/modello-educativo-graduate-school.

How do I know if there are any prerequisites for my course of study?
Any prerequisites that apply to your enrollment cohort are listed on this page.
If a student fails the prerequisite exam, and this is recorded and registered in their academic record, the first exam taken will be annulled by Rector’s Decree, as the required prerequisite has not been met.
Except for the Law degree program (where the prerequisite requirement will also be enforced within the same exam session), you can take two exams, one as a prerequisite for the other, during the same session, even in reverse order. However, if the student fails the preparatory exam, and this is recorded and registered in their academic record, the first exam taken will be canceled by Rector’s Decree, as the required preparatory condition will not have been met.

Which Luiss office provides support to international students before they arrive in Rome?
The Welcome Desk Office is located on the Viale Romania Campus. You can contact the Welcome Desk by emailing welcomedesk@luiss.it or calling +39 068522 5770.
What paperwork can the Welcome Desk help you with?
The Welcome Desk provides support for the following procedures:
- requesting an invitation letter to obtain a study visa;
- applying for a student visa to enter Italy;
- applying for or renewing a residence permit for study purposes;
- requesting a tax code;
- health insurance and enrollment in the Italian National Health System;
- opening a bank account in Italy;
- registration with the Rome Municipality’s Registry Office.
Does Luiss offer support in completing the process to obtain a study visa to travel to Italy?
Once the enrollment process is complete and the first installment is paid (this does not apply to scholarship students), international students will receive an email from the Welcome Desk with all the necessary information regarding paperwork (visa, health insurance, etc.) to be completed before arriving in Italy.
Students can then request an invitation letter from the Welcome Desk (via email: welcomedesk@luiss.it) to submit to the Italian Embassy or Consulate in their home country when applying for a student visa.
If issues arise and upon the student’s specific request, the Welcome Desk may, where possible, contact the Embassy or Consulate where the application was submitted to support the student’s visa request.
Once in Italy, the Welcome Desk Office will assist all students in completing the paperwork and applying for a study residence permit. The residence permit application must be submitted within 8 working days of arrival in Italy (including Saturdays).
What is the procedure to follow if you come from a country outside the European Union, are enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program, and want to obtain a study visa to enter Italy?
You can find detailed information on the process for obtaining a study visa by visiting the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Each student should check whether a visa is required and, if so, make sure to review the documents needed for the application. It will be essential to contact the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your home country for further details.
The student must send a copy of their passport, along with the name of the degree program and the Embassy or Consulate where they will apply for a visa, to welcomedesk@luiss.it. This will allow Luiss to send a formal invitation letter for the visa application. To ensure everything runs smoothly, it's essential to register on the UniversItaly portal. Once the process is complete and Luiss has confirmed admission, the Italian Embassy/Consulate will receive a notification to review the student’s visa application.
For more information, visit the website.
What should I do if my visa is denied?
If your visa is denied, we recommend contacting the Welcome Desk Office by email at welcomedesk@luiss.it. Please remember to request an official communication from the Embassy or Consulate regarding the visa denial, and share it with the Admissions Office and the Welcome Desk.

Once they arrive in Italy, incoming international students will also be invited to attend informational sessions during Freshers’ Week.
