The Comics course, in collaboration with the publishing house BUGS COMICS.

The course, offered free of charge to all students who are properly enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Single-Cycle Master’s program at Luiss Guido Carli for the relevant academic year, is hands-on in nature. It aims to introduce students to what comics are and how they are created in terms of language and technique.

The course also aims to cultivate cross-cutting skills in idea development, storytelling, and drawing.

Given its highly practical focus, enrollment is recommended only for students who have a passion and a particular aptitude for hand drawing, which will be a core component of the second part of the course, but also an integral part of the first.

Students will be guided through the development of the entire concept: first the idea, then the subject, the treatment, the script, and the execution, all the way to the drawings, layouts, lettering, coloring, graphic layout, and editorial organization. We will delve into both the elements of the script and the language of comics, as well as those of drawing, with the goal of having each participant create a small drawn piece: an illustration, a comic strip, a panel, and so on.

Engaging in these activities will provide an opportunity to work as a team, develop a project idea, exercise creativity, and acquire communication and problem-solving skills that can be applied to other areas as well.

The course consists of 20 thematic lessons, with 8 in the first semester and 12 in the second, each lasting 3 hours.
